Queen Ester’s
legacy continues into modern times. She had documented her life in a
series of letters to a young Jewish woman named Leah. These documents
along with a genealogy of Jewish families in Iraq have caused a stir.
Fifty years ago when Jewish families were being executed, many fled the
country…many went into hiding. Now the list of families has fallen into
the wrong hands and murders and kidnappings of Jews are happening all
over again. Hadassah, the wife of the Prime Minister of Israel and her
newfound cousin are on a quest to save their people. To do so, first
they must find the rest of Queen Ester’s letters to Hadassah’s ancestor,
Leah.
THE
HADASSAH COVENANT packs quite a
punch. Authors
Tommy Tenney and Mark Andrew Olsen have penned a tale rich in historic
and modern detail. While at first glance this book didn’t enthrall this
reviewer, it didn’t take long for the intrigue and storyline to capture
the interest and hold it throughout. The reader can’t help but wonder
how it will all end. The first character to worm her way under the
reader’s skin is Leah of ancient time. Her plight as a young woman whose
love was spurned by the king only to become a concubine in the king’s
harem is heartfelt. Leah is sure her life will parallel that of Queen
Ester and she is bitterly disappointed when it doesn’t happen. But
Ester’s life isn’t a bed of roses. Her king husband is murdered and she
feels her life is rather pathetic.
Then
there is the modern tale. Hadassah is a wonderfully headstrong woman
who upon the death of her father is given hints of family secrets. She
soon discovers that it wasn’t her husband or even her father that was
the terrorist’s target, but she herself. She must find the missing
documents that go with the ones that a cousin she didn’t even know
existed has discovered to put the pieces together to save the Jewish
families still hiding in Iraq.
THE
HADASSAH COVENANT is a beautifully written, poignant story that will
grip the reader’s heartstrings. The action doesn’t cease. While a work
of fiction, this book is based on factual possibilities. This reviewer
highly recommends this book, as it is an enjoyable read that will leave
the reader pondering with new insight. Kudos to authors Tommy Tenney
and Mark Andrew Olsen. This reviewer can’t rave enough about THE
HADASSAH COVENANT. Get your copy today. You won’t be disappointed.
