Monique St. Cyr’s life is so complicated!  She is juggling her boyfriend and career.  At her mom’s wedding, she finds out that her maiden Aunt Lilly and her Gramps will be moving into her mom’s duplex.  She starts to receive boxes of ripped books and threatening notes.   Monique’s mom is a successful erotic fiction writer and the books are hers.  And if she doesn’t need more complexity in her life, her boyfriend’s ex-fiancée wants him back and her best friend is pregnant.

Monique is a normal woman -- she wants it all, but how to go about getting it all, is the question she must solve.   She is working toward a successful career, but feels she may have to put her love life on the back burner.  She knows she wants marriage and a family but the timing has to be right.  Her career as a reporter is just starting, and she is hoping to get some choice assignments.  Can she give this up for a man who may be “the one”?  This is the question that follows her throughout the book.  Jake Dube is a police officer and her boyfriend.  He wants commitment and he is pushing for marriage.  He wants the wife and the kids.  He has been through one relationship where his fiancée kept putting their relationship on the back burner and it ended.  He understands she wants a career, but doesn’t see why it has to push their relationship into the background.

The plot never falters and moves at a brisk pace.  It is filled with witty dialogue and humorous situations.  Monique and Jake are very likable leads.  There is chemistry between the two, and the reader wants them to succeed in their relationship.  This book is told from Monique’s perspective.  The reader is privy to her feelings, thoughts and reactions.   The supporting cast of characters are all endearing with their little foibles.  The author has done a splendid job of bringing them to life.   They all enhance and add zip to the story, especially Aunt Lilly.  Ms. Amos has written a thoroughly enjoyable book filled with action, romance and mystery.
