Having had enough of romance writers’ portrayals of Vikings, Karl Gustavsen decides it is time to clear the air and set the world straight on the many favorable accomplishments of his people. The final straw is author Rose Jacobson’s latest bodice ripper, “Ravished by Ragnar”. To that end, he engages attorney Zipporah Stuart and forms the Viking Anti-Defamation League. Rather than back down at Karl’s demands, Rose opts to go head to head in court. It is not long before Rose and Karl are giving serious thought to ravishing each other.

I’m A Viking and I Protest is a fast moving, totally fun read. Drawing on Ms. Rose’s – that would be gifted author Jackie Rose – own marvelous sense of humor, the reader will go from smiles to giggles to outright laugher at the scenes so wonderfully brought to life in her latest book. At the same time, the author calls attention to what has become perhaps an overdone need for political correctness. With so many other cultures and races having formed their own protection groups, why not the Vikings? Through Karl’s mission to show a side of Vikings that did not include raping and pillaging, the reader is treated to some glimpses of different historical periods and possibilities of these ever-popular romance novel heroes. She offers some additional insight, through her wonderful sense of humor, on just what it takes for a book to be a bestseller and the ins and outs of the e-publishing world.

Karl is wonderful in his determination to show that his forefathers were really pretty decent fellows. Rose is admirable in her determination to keep her current bestseller as it is. The supporting characters are both larger than life, yet at the same time, totally believable in their own personal issues.

Ms. Rose has once again shown her diversity as an author by writing in yet another time period. Following on the heels of I’m Dead and I Vote, I’m a Viking and I Protest is a totally enjoyable read. This reviewer eagerly looks forward to another installment in this diverse author’s “I’m ______” series. What a super fun read!
