Alan Dyson is a research engineer for a pharmaceutical firm and has been experimenting with a formula that includes bristlecone pine and the virus HIV to extend human life span. When his formula is stolen and all of his notes are wiped off of his computer, Alan is blamed.  His friend and co-worker investigates and tracks the thief to a small town in Iowa.  Alan is determined to discover who the thief is, but soon discovers that someone has been using the people of Zion as lab rats to test the formula on. Alan and a young woman who aligns herself with his cause now they find themselves the next targets of a murderous plot, because whoever is behind it has made a discovery and is murdering everyone to cover their tracks.

Starting out with a bang, GEEZER gives us an interesting look at the process of pharmaceutical development. The author uses his imagination to develop a controversial remedy to an age-old problem, pun intended, of aging.  Our leading man, Alan is a scientist that soon has to also become an investigator in the aftermath of the theft of his formula. His delightful sidekick, Julie is a woman in the witness protection program and she risks her cover to help Alan find out who is harming her new neighbors. Julie is a wonderful character that this reviewer felt was very warm and caring, yet the story of the witness protection program a little unnecessary.

While the story moves along at a fair clip and doesn’t lag, it is unable to keep this reader’s attention along about the middle of the book.  Something is missing that detracts from the storyline. Perhaps it is mystery of who and how that seems to drag on a bit. This reviewer just wasn’t enthralled. However, GEEZER has a unique plot that makes this book a worthwhile read, even if it doesn’t earn a spot on the keeper shelf.
