Holly Bishop thought she was going to live out her fairy
tale romance with all the trimmings.
Unfortunately, real life intrudes on the fairy tale as she finds
herself embarking on a new life as her prince charming has turned into a
toad. Holly’s
marriage has fallen apart and her final divorce papers are looming
ahead. She heads to San
Francisco to start over which includes a new job, new friends and
hopefully, a new prince charming.
The Frog Prince is a breezy tale of a woman’s search for
herself. The failure of her
marriage weighs heavily on Holly as she is still wondering why it
happened. Her anger and
pain is always close by as she struggles to develop a new life for
herself. Holly is a young,
intelligent and vibrant girl who has hit a very big pothole in life.
She has to be able to pull herself up and move on if she is to
find happiness in life.
Her new set of friends including co-workers try to assist
her but some are not to be trusted.
Holly tries her hand at dating again and hits quite a few losers
along the way. This is
truly a chick lit book and not a romance in the truest sense.
The story is about Holly and her road to finding her true self.
She is stronger than she thought and while a little naïve, her
earnestness to succeed was truly touching.
Her journey begins on a sour note but by the end, she is a winner
in every way!
The Frog Prince is different from all the previous Jane
Porter books -- there is the glaring lack of the overly Alpha male. This
did not impede this reader’s enjoyment of the story. The focus is on the heroine and her struggles to reconcile
her past and her future. Holly’s
transformation was a smooth progression and this reader felt like
applauding by the end of it.
