A marriage for money in the old times was important for people who were in need of money. Now in the 21st century sometimes marrying for money can be a great decision to make in a lifetime. Victoria Harlow is your typical woman who is trying to survive in this world. As a young woman she has worked to make her day care center succeed not only for herself but for the children who need a home.  Now when her day care is starting to get acceptance from families, she is in need of money to keep the center open. Known to never use money lightly, Tory considers her late Aunts will. In the will she has to marry a man from the list her Aunt set up or someone who at least has some of those qualities she states. Though her aunt had some good tastes, all the men in the list are far from what Tory is looking for.  That was until she met Sam Benson and the circumstances that he is facing.

Women to Sam Benson are only eager to have one thing: money. When his friend tells him about Victoria Harlow, he immediately figures out what kind of woman she is. Mostly a greedy witch set out to gain her inheritance no matter the cost. Though he is in need for the money also, he would not sacrifice his son to live with a woman like her. Least of all call her mommy. Sam's main goal is to keep his son, Josh at all costs. He knows what he has to do; marrying Tory would be okay all for the sake of the money that he will get. That was until Tory's late Aunt sneaked up one last condition to the will. Sam and Tory have to live with each other for a whole year. It is bad enough that he has married Tory, now he has to live with her under the same roof. It's not just her that gets to him, but it's the way she has come to get under his skin that worries him more. Not only are the living conditions starting to bother Sam, but also the cold shoulder Josh is giving to Tory. He knows that nothing can take the place of Josh' dead mother, but he tries to make everybody like each other.

BARGAINED VOWS to this reviewer was like a fresh romance of family and love beginning. This reviewer liked the way Allison Knight wrote Sam Benson as a macho man who did not need any woman to help him with his son. Unlike macho men, Sam oozed with so much pride that it almost tore apart this family. As his mind sets out to just find a way to keep his son away from his grandparents, he forgets Tory's feelings towards him and his son. Though he tries to hide his feelings for her, just reading the words his love screams for Tory. Even she tries to hide her feelings, but the things she does like redecorating his home, learning how to ride a horse for his sake shows how much she wants to make this marriage bearable.

A delightful romance to read filled with love, humor, and easy characters to follow. The characters itself and the story line just catch your attention from the first chapter. You have money, lust, love, and most of all a little boy who warms your heart. A little boy's pride slowly thaws out when even he starts to love his new mother. Only his father can change Tory's mind to stay with them forever and have a real family.
