Money may not be able to buy happiness, but plastic probably can. The Sutherlands of Sutherland Plastics had it all: wealth, power and more power. Tom Marr was fortunate when Darcy Sutherland decided to have him for her husband. But during their engagement, Tom falls in love with Julie Sutherland, young widow of Darcy’s brother who was estranged from the family and their fortune. What will win? Plastic or passion? The love of money or the love of a good woman?

The strength and beauty of this book lies with Ms. Henry’s writing ability. To put it simply, she’s able to create with words. Each character is like a unique fingerprint that fits perfectly in the story. No one is plastic here. While passion is the trademark of a good romance, Ms. Henry has mixed in a variety of other emotions, which keeps the reader anxious to turn the pages. Anger and fear blend with love and sympathy in a swirling storm of feelings. Readers will be continually surprised as the slowly enfolding story drops new and sometimes disturbing information about the characters and their motives.

The artificial world of the Sutherlands differs vastly from the genuine lives of most of the inhabitants at Kings Crossing, New York. Readers are given a glimpse of the rich and famous, but are given a taste of the real and honorable. The opposing worlds of Tom and Julie meet in love, but in order for them to have a future, serious decisions need to be made. Tension and terror cling to them until the final pages.

All That Glitters shines with excellent characterizations, descriptive writing and a plot that is far from “plastic”.
