Amber Toadvine was brutally attacked ten years ago and left at the altar.  Her fiancé, Craig James, walks into the church and finds her in the arms of another man.  Not sticking around to hear the truth, Amber’s fiancé Craig leaves town.  Amber loses both of her parents in a car accident just five years later, and is torn apart emotionally once again.  She finds comfort in her friendship with Ruth James, Craig’s mother.  When Ruth becomes ill and knows she is in her last days, she asks only that Amber call Craig home to say goodbye.  Ruth’s dying wish is that Amber and Craig will find happiness… together.

Craig James felt like his world was torn apart when he found Amber in his best friend’s arms. Leaving everyone he loved behind, he ran from his family, as well as Amber and their friends.  Leaving her to deal with the wedding gone astray, he never returned home until his mother’s dying request was to see him.  He comes home chagrined that he did not even know she was ill.  After his return, he learns the truth about Amber’s attack, and strives to redeem himself in her eyes as well as his own.

ALL I EVER WANTED is a heart wrenching story filled with hatred, love and all the emotions that fall in between.  As Craig comes to terms with his mother’s illness, Amber’s attack, and the facts surrounding their lives, Ms. Moore portrays their feelings so well that this reviewer was left in tears more than once.  From Amber’s terror and the sadness over Ruth’s death, to the happiness when Amber and Craig get past their differences and trust one another, Ms. Moore has given an awesome amount of impact with her words.  In this reviewer’s opinion that makes this the perfect novel.

Beyond her ability to fill the reader with emotion, Ms. Moore has given her novel a quick pace filled with a plot that will leave the reader wanting more.  Amber has been through so much that the reader will cheer for her as she goes after what she wants in life:  a husband and children.  While Craig may have left Amber ten years ago, Ms. Moore makes the reader love Craig all the more for it.  His pain over the years makes him a man wronged.  When he is able to see past the pain to find out the truth, he is redeemed not only in Amber’s eyes but in the readers’ as well.  ALL I EVER WANTED sports great characters and enough plot to make it a Five Rose novel!  It is with honor that this reviewer rates it one of the best reads in 2004.
