Women's Fiction/Inspirational

When Haley’s almost eight-year marriage falls apart because her husband Jay has found another woman to move into her house, she is hurt and angry. The pre-nuptial agreement she signed as a starry-eyed, totally in love twenty-year-old states that she is only entitled to $10,000 for every year of the marriage. Jay’s devastatingly handsome attorney gives her one piece of advice, to attend a group at his church called THE TROPHY WIVES CLUB, a support group for women who have been given a raw deal from their ex-husbands or soon to be ex-husbands. Haley has never given much stock in the whole God thing, but figures she can use all of the friends she can get.

Ok, is it just this reviewer, or wouldn’t it be nice to read a book where the ex-husband gets exactly what is coming to him? Seriously, the old adage that the best revenge is living well just doesn’t work for this reader sometimes. That is the only complaint this reviewer has about THE TROPHY WIVES CLUB, an otherwise sensational book. Whew, ok, had to get that out of the system first thing.

A spin on the book The First Wives Club, a book that this reader thoroughly loved, this reviewer jumped at the change to review this book.  The wives in THE TROPHY WIVES CLUB aren’t out for revenge, but to learn to deal with the desertion of their husbands in a positive way, a thing that should be embraced everyone who has ever been dumped and devastated. This is an easy thing to say, a hard thing to do. Thus the reason the club was created. Our leading lady, Haley, believing that her marriage would last forever agreed to whatever was asked of her by Jay. Needless to say, this was a huge mistake for her as now she is not only husbandless, but homeless as well. Readers go with Haley as she learns to stand on her own two feet, such a wonderful premise for a book, if not completely original. Even when Haley wants to hate Jay she still has feeling for him and that is what makes this book so totally believable. The secondary cast is made up of some strong and vibrant women that are an inspiration.

Author Kristin Billerbeck has a wonderful offering in THE TROPHY WIVES CLUB. One that is a must read for all lovers of chick lit. This reviewer will certainly be on the look out for more of her books, as she has penned six women’s fiction books and many more romance novels. THE TROPHY WIVES CLUB is artfully written, full of wonderful characters that will stay with this reviewer for a long time.
