Stephen Whittaker had set
himself goals when he was very young. He did not want to be like his dad
who he felt was a total loser. Stephen moved away from his hometown, went
to a fine college and landed a great job. He also had an engagement ring
ready for when he asked Alice to marry him. But then tragedy struck,
Stephen lost Alice in an accident and his world fell apart. His life began
a downhill spiral that even he did not recognize until it was too late.
Stephen found himself back in his hometown, married to Alice’s best friend
Donna and in business with an old high school friend. But even those small
victories are in danger when Donna leaves; she is tired of fighting the
ghost of Alice. It is too late to change the course of the future…or is
it?
WOW! This book
packed the same gut wrenching twist of an ending for this reviewer that
did the movie Sixth Sense. Up until that point the book, like the movie,
was fair but not the best that this reader has ever encountered. Then
WHAM! The twist hits and the storyline is rocketed into the category of a
great tale. Kudos is to be given to author
David Lewis for his
ingenious plot twist that this reviewer never saw coming.
Our
leading man Stephen has had some hard hits in his life, but the one bright
spot is his daughter until daily life factors drive a wedge between them;
job and money struggles for Stephen and puberty trials for Alycia. Mr.
Lewis pens the growth of Stephen right before our eyes as he comes to
grips with his past, present and future. The reader will cheer for
Stephen’s triumphs and weep for his setbacks, and there is never a time
when emotions are not being pulled out of the reader. What a wonderful
gift from Mr. Lewis to the reading world.
Do not
miss out on SAVING ALICE. If you are looking for an emotionally
charged and touching tale to spend the day with, then this book is surely
for you. You will not be disappointed.
