Christen Mathews is
living in paradise, Hawaii. But things are not always perfect in this
picturesque setting. Her uncle, Christen’s closest relative, has passed
away and she is trying to get over an abusive relationship with a cop. She
has sworn off men, especially cops. Her convictions are supported when she
meets the rude and overbearing yet devastatingly handsome homicide
commander, Keono Kuai. Or are they?
Now there is a
serial killer on the loose in Honolulu. After many murders, his newest
quarry seems to be Christen. Just who is this murderous fiend and what
connection does he have to Christen?
Twists and turns
galore! That is what the reader will find in JUST LOVE ME. This
reviewer can usually guess who-dunnit within the first half of a book but
this one had this super sleuth stumped up until he was unmasked for the
fiend that he is.
However, beyond the
intriguing surprise ending and the beautiful scenery this book is not
unique in the tale of a woman hurt and betrayed, who is swearing off men
only to find her dream man in the very thing she is avoiding with all of
her being. And at times the over descriptive prose of the Hawaiian
landscape grated on this reviewer’s nerves, as one who has been to Hawaii
but some readers who have not had that pleasure might find the mundane
details not so mundane after all. That aside, this reviewer enjoyed
reading JUST LOVE ME and the wonderful ending saved the day to
launch this offering by author Laura Henion into the above average and
simply good book rating of merely 3 roses onto a 3.5. So sit back and
enjoy Hawaiian sun, even if only in your imagination.
