Coming home after
two years in a Yankee prison camp, Captain Sinclair ‘Sin’ McGregor was not
prepared to learn that his home had been sold for back taxes and his
fiancé’ Ivonne is married to another man. Sin could live without WindLass
but he did not see how he could live without Ivonne, as he had loved her
his entire life.
Grace Vivienne
Brell has plans now that her hated grandson is home to reacquire WindLass.
And if Sinclair is killed in the process then that is an added bonus.
Weaving her webs and pulling her strings, she will endanger both
Sinclair’s life and his sanity. Will love be enough to save him?
IN THE WIND’S
EYE by Ms. Boyett-Compo takes the reader to the deep south right after
the Civil War. To a time when women protected their men without
endangering their pride; to a time when a man could and would love one
woman to their dying day. The reader is immersed so deeply in the culture
and the characters that coming up for air to televisions and telephones is
quite the shock.
The characters in
IN THE WIND’S EYE really contribute to the reader’s experience.
They are all so well developed and so real that they will stay with the
reader long after the book is finished. The villainess, Grace Vivienne,
is the epitome of evil. The tragedies caused by her are enough to make
anyone despise her. Sin is a true hero even with or perhaps because of
all of his flaws. He is handsome, moody, intelligent and loyal. And when
he gives his heart it is forever. There are several different secondary
characters, all with distinct personalities, that contribute greatly to
the story; especially the women of this tale.
This reviewer
recommends IN THE WIND’S EYE to any readers who enjoy Civil War
romances. Just be prepared to fall in love with the gallant gentlemen and
the women of the South.
