The
fifth book in the Montgomery Family series, FAMILY DOCTOR, is yet
another beautiful story of love joining three people into a tightly held
family unit as only J.J. Massa can write it.
For so
many years, Dr. Marc Fonteneax thought his only chance at happiness was
with the mate of another. He has accepted that she is not to be his and
has found solace in his work.
Then,
Bernadette Reeves brings her sickly child to Marc hoping against hope that
he might find a cure for the boy. While Marc recognizes Bernadette as his
mate, she has a hard time accepting that they are destined to be together,
even after he marks her as his own. But first Marc has to get her to
believe in werewolves and then he has to convince her that her son is one
of them.
Like
the rest of J.J. Massa’s Montgomery Family series of werewolf love
stories, FAMILY DOCTOR is wonderfully erotic and a howl of a good
time. Readers first met Dr. Marc in the first book in this series,
Acting Like Family, when he looked over Riker Montgomery’s mate until
they could find their way back together. This reader has since had a soft
spot for the good Dr. Marc and was especially pleased to see that he
finally got a book and a life-mate, as well as a family of his own.
It
takes a strong woman to find out her son is a real-life werewolf and that
he might die from distemper. Readers will really empathize with
Bernadette’s pain and that of the Montgomery’s when they realize that this
illness could have avoided if only the boy’s natural father had told
Bernadette the child was part werewolf.
The
little boy wins our hearts from the start. He is smaller that he should
be for his age and in incredible pain, yet he readily accepts and embraces
his werewolf heritage and is eager to become a part of the Montgomery
family. It would take a cold heart indeed not to cheer for this little
boy and want to see him with a father that loves him. Big-hearted Dr.
Marc slides into that role seamlessly and like all the Montgomery family,
welcomes him and his mother into his life.
J.J.
Massa has a wonderful way of bringing out the emotions of her characters
that just makes you want to be part of this amazing family. The story
flows beautifully and has enough of a stumbling block in the boy’s natural
father to add some suspense to the book. Of course, the Montgomery’s band
together, as we expected they would, and save the day. But somehow, our
knowing how this book will probably resolve does not detract from the
story at all.
This
reader must reiterate her love of J.J. Massa’s Montgomery werewolves and
FAMILY DOCTOR in particular. Skillfully written and emotionally
charged, J.J. Massa’s FAMILY DOCTOR is sure to tug at the
heartstrings of werewolf and romance fans alike.
