Jason
Claymere, Marquis of Ravensworth is being urged to take a wife. It is
time for him to set up his nursery, unfortunately, none of the women
interests him. He finds an injured woman on the fringes of his land.
Emily Smith has taken the trip from the Colonies to find her family. Her
carriage is held up by men and she is shot in the process. Jason
takes her home and nurses her back to health. There is an air of mystery
that surrounds Emily
as she is not forthcoming with answers about her past. She intrigues
Jason
but before he can get answers,
Emily takes off.
Jason
is presented with a daughter he didn’t know about. He has more than he
can handle as he plans to present his bastard daughter to society.
The author has
created a strong lead couple who will captivate the reader.
Jason
is an unusual man especially in his era. He has a forceful personality
and protects the ones he loves like a mother bear with her cub. Emily
falls under that umbrella as
Jason is more than determined to
have her. Emily is a plucky
heroine whose life experiences haven’t been all pleasant. She is
resourceful and intelligent. Her connection to Jason
is strengthened by her love for his daughter.
The Dream
is an intriguing historical novel. It has romance as well as suspense as
the author throws in some twists to the story. The only quibble this
reviewer had with the book was the lack of an epilogue. Perhaps the
author plans on writing a sequel to this story but this reader would have
loved to have a glimpse of what happened with Emily,
Jason
and their family.
