Vincent Jordan, a
Special Enforcer has spent his life searching and destroying Vampires.
However even after the death of his friend and partner he cannot find the
strength or will to kill Lilia.
Lilia, formerly
Helene de Saint Simon, was once a carefree lady on the verge of womanhood,
but her Now Sire and Master vampire took that away by making her his
Childe.
The hero has fought
everything that has come up against him including his own feelings since
his mother’s death. He however cannot forget or fight his growing desires
as spells gone awry force him and his greatest enemy to become lovers and
Mates. The heroine promised to never allow love to rule her heart or
mind, but she has broken that promise and now longs to be with the one man
her body craves.
Checkmate by Kallysten has
brought the vampires, the hunters, and their arch nemesis to complete new
level. This reviewer has read many stories where the elements combine but
not so in such a unique way. The language is in parts tricky, but
explained with an understanding into the reader’s mind that makes it easy
for the reader to grasp. The scenery itself allows the reader into places
he or she may never get to see with such detail that you will never forget
each individual place.
The secondary
characters never play enough of a role to truly interfere with the main
plot. All of the secondary characters in CHECKMATE stay in the
background where they belong yet tease the reader for a better glimpse
into the setting. The transformation from human to vampire and the words
used to describe were uniquely chosen and this reader has found a new
author of one of my favorite creatures that I will be following with a
thirst for more.
This reader has
enjoyed reading this and her other books and feel privileged to be
interviewing her.
