Isabella Hammond
has rented a rustic isolated cabin in Alaska. She has come to try to heal
from a recent traumatic situation in which she was not only in danger but
in which she lost her dearly beloved Uncle Cam. He was her best friend,
her employer, and her shelter in life. Now she must find a new direction
for her future.
On convalescent
leave after injury from an explosion, Brandon Wilks is flying low trying
to stay under the clouds as the weather has turned unexpectedly poor.
Contemplation of giving up the danger that his work has entailed in law
enforcement as well as visions of settling down tempt him after his last
brush with death.
When a freak
occurrence brings the small plane crashing into the lake before her very
eyes, Isabella can not possibly know what a wonderful accident this will
turn out to be.
Ms. Karella takes
two strangers, both of whom are unusual people each taking stock of their
lives and places them in the wilds of Alaska. The setting is a fitting
canvas for these two hardy and earthy people who have lived uncommon
lives. The beauty of the land as well as its nuisances feels so real that
you can actually picture yourself there.
Bella’s gruff
personality is a veneer coating on a caring and wounded soul. Readers
will ache with her over the tragedies in her past that have left her
somewhat fragile. Likewise, we respect her for her determination to find
a measure of happiness and to persevere.
For all of our
hero’s tough career history, he is a wonderfully grounded man. One could
not help but chuckle over Brandon’s penchant to tease, admire his wish to
help, and melt at his attempts to woo his sometimes vulnerable and
sometimes prickly heroine.
Alaskan Hideaway is a romance
that will take you through a gamut of emotions and leave you happy to have
witnessed this journey to love.
