Gabriel Joudain
is a renowned musician and war hero. Paris loves him and due to his war
injuries he can no longer be the concert pianist he once was, but now he
teaches. When Kate Dellafield is accepted as a student of the
Conservatoire de Paris, she is thrilled to learn that Gabriel will be
her teacher. She is surprised, however, that he seems to scorn her and
is determined to drive her away with sarcasm. Gabriel is too attracted
to the little Druid. Although his feelings for her are growing, there
is no way he can pursue her. The injuries he got in the war did more
than just scar his body; they have made him less than a man. He cannot
tell her, he will not have her pity. But Kate is determined to show
Gabriel that the song in her heart is born out of her love for him and
she loves him just as he is.
This is the third
book in Ms. Stewart’s Garland of Druids series and this
reviewer’s favorite so far. Ms. Stewart gives her reader not only a
very hunky hero, but a very tortured one at that. Gabriel stole this
reviewer’s heart and as he struggles with his attraction for Kate and
the secrets he does not want to reveal to her, the reader will not help
but want to reach out to him. As usual, Ms. Stewart’s heroines are
bold, bright and are not about to back down. The plot is quite
exciting; with some danger thrown in and of course our hero must be the
knight in shining amour to save the day. This story brought tears to
this reviewer’s eyes. It’s full of emotion and heart wrenching
tenderness. The love scenes are also very sensual, romantic and hot.
This is an all around wonderful story, and this reviewer is very much
looking forward to reading more of this series.
