Gamsin, a young
thief has left the big city, getting away before her crimes catch up
with her. She’s heard about a treasure in a village some way away and
hopes to find at least a bag of gold coins to fulfill her dreams. What
she discovers however is a dragon, a man and kindness and care. What
she has yet to discover is that the dragon and the man are the same,
under a curse, since 500 years, that only a young woman can counter.
Kindness usually comes with a price in her bitter experience and she is
wary and suspicious of Ankoll. She sees herself as a broken woman, he
sees her strength. But will she be strong enough to help him in his
quest to hunt down the sorcerer who put the curse on him? And what
about when he discovers that the ‘gift’ he is trying to be released from
could be the only thing to save the world?
This is fantasy
as this reviewer loves it. A quest, a dragon, sorcerers, evil in the
world and a hot romance to boot. Wonderful stuff for a dreary afternoon
or evening. K. S. Augustin takes her readers away to another place,
another time and gives them a wonderful escape from everyday life. Her
characters are deep, charming and the reader will be rooting and tooting
for Gamsin and Ankoll. Both are tortured, both have things to learn and
both wonderfully come together. The warning on this book reads as
follows: ‘Although this title does contain a rape scene, it also
contains tender sex, enchantments and a kick-ass dragon losing his
temper.’ Don’t let the rape scene put you off. It’s done and over with
very quickly and gives Gamsin’s character more reason to mistrust Ankoll
and it shows how patient and loving Ankoll is. This reviewer can highly
recommend this story. Get it now and find out how Gamsin and Ankoll
overcome all their difficulties.
