Colin Ames-Beaumont is vain and proud of it. Cursed by a spell, Colin
is unable to look into mirrors given that all he can see is the dreadful
Chaos. Savitri Murray is a curious and spirited young woman that has
made a pledge to her nana. That promise entails her getting married.
But how can a normal man understand her life when she spends her time
battling the undead?
Colin and Savitri must uncover who is impersonating Colin and trying to
turn the vampire community upside down. There are also demons that are
opening the portal from Chaos and running amok amongst the humans and
vampires. As the only link to Chaos, Colin must venture into the horrid
place and uncover the demon’s plans. Will Savitri find love with Colin
and can they overcome his curse and immortality together?
Being the first book this reviewer has read from author Meljean Brook, I
must say that DEMON MOON did not go down like a fine glass of
wine. This reviewer found this story very complex and difficult to
follow. Unlike other vampire novels that are a series and stand well
alone, this story did not and would have fared better had the author
provided the reader with some initial background in the very beginning
of the story. Perhaps then some of this readers’s questions would have
been answered and would have allowed me to bond and better understand
some of the main and secondary characters.
Although this reviewer did not totally hate DEMON MOON as I did
find some aspects of it very pleasing. I enjoyed the fact the Colin and
Savitri were an interracial couple. I did like the fact that although
Colin was a strong male, he still allowed Savitri to be the independent
and curious women that she was. Colin actually understood her so well
that he was very certain that she would not be happy with just any man.
As
a reader I like a book that challenges my thoughts and warms my heart.
DEMON MOON did challenge my thoughts, but left me too lost
and disjointed to want more.
