Historical Romance

Duncan Armstrong, laird of Duffdour, has sworn never to marry without loving the woman he gives his heart to but when he needs a favor from King James, Duncan never expects the price to be in a spitfire of a woman who captivates his mind and calls to his heart. Highland Heiress Ellen MacArthur’s life is torn to shreds by death and she flees to the royal court, for safety, though she never expects to find herself married to a border lord, who teases and soon torments her senses and enflames her body. Bound in marriage, these two strong willed people are about to find a love that was unanticipated and could consume them if they let it.

THE BORDER LORD’S BRIDE is the next in Ms. Small’s fabulous Border Chronicles series. With her trademark style, she delivers a heart pounding, stirring story that enflames the reader’s senses and imagination from the beginning. With wonderful well rounded characters, a storyline that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat in anticipation and a love that beckons, it all adds up to one fantastic book that had this reviewer up late in the evening trying to see what would happen next for Duncan and Ellen.

The reader met Duncan Armstrong in A Dangerous Love, the first book of this magnificent series. Now he is center stage as he finds himself wed to a lass who is as strong willed and practical as he is. He is a strong, practical man who saw his brother be a stubborn fool and vowed that he would tell the woman he marries he loves her every day of their lives together yet life decides to throw a big monkey wrench in his plans in the form of feisty Ellen MacArthur, a Highland Heiress who found herself fleeing for her life to the royal court for safety. Strong, practical and willing to adapt to any situation, Ellen made this reader sit up and cheer as she tackles the biggest job she ever had: the heart of a man who turns her on passionately and captures her mind with his intellect.

With each page this reviewer was enthralled in the world of regency Scotland, when Kings plotted and ruled, where danger was around each corner and love was hiding in the wings.  Action packed, sensual to boot, this reviewer was unable to put THE BORDER LORD’S BRIDE down after it was started. It delivers a jam packed ride that will keep the reader entertained till the very end. All this reviewer can say is: Is there any more? Run to grab this marvelous story and be lost in the pageantry and stories that Ms. Small is famous for.
