Suzanne Brockmann’s ALL THROUGH THE
NIGHT: A Troubleshooter Christmas hits bookshelves just in time for
the holiday season and what a gift it is.
As Christmas approaches in Boston, FBI
agent Jules Cassidy and Hollywood heartthrob Robin Chadwick prepare for
their upcoming nuptials. Jules has not had the best of luck in the
romance department, so when he finds the love of his life, he really
wants his Troubleshooter and FBI agent friends to approve of the match.
He knows Robin Chadwick comes with some very real and very serious
baggage, but he loves him and he knows that Robin feels just as strongly
toward him and they intend to make this relationship work. But first
they have to deal with Jules being sent into a deadly battle half way
around the world, a stalker who thinks Jules, Robin and their mutual
ex-boyfriend Adam are robots he must destroy and a whole slew of family
and plumbing problems on top of all their wedding plans.
In her latest Troubleshooter
romance, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, Suzanne Brockmann pens the much
anticipated yet fraught filled wedding of one of her most beloved
characters, sexy FBI agent Jules Cassidy, who has been a prominent
figure in just about every Troubleshooter romance thus far, to his newly
out of the closet and recently returned from rehab A-list actor
boyfriend Robin Chadwick, who we have also met in recent storylines.
Ms. Brockmann took a real chance in telling the romantic story of two
gay characters from her incredibly popular Troubleshooter series of
books. Past stories in this line have all included strong military
alpha men and the women who take them on. Jules Cassidy definitely
falls in the category of strong alpha male. He is constantly running
toward danger and is a strong hero who knows who he is and is
comfortable in that role. He is also gay.
Homophobes are probably going to
want to skip this book. Open-minded romantics, however, are not going
to want to miss this one. This book is about two gay men finding
everlasting happiness in marriage together. The sex of the characters
is almost beside the point. This is a love story folks and like all
true love stories, there are many stumbling blocks along the road to
happiness. Jealousy, alcoholism, the spotlight of stardom, trust and
acceptance of human flaws are all issues that must be overcome.
What this reader liked most about
this book was the way Ms. Brockmann embraced the white elephant in the
room, homosexuality, instead of pretending it did not exist. Several of
Jules’ closest friends, have not only problems with Jules choice of
mate, but also the whole gay lifestyle and the way they work through
their discomfort as they look out for their friend and want him to find
that kind of happiness that they are all beginning to find in their own
lives, makes the story all that much more believable and endearing. By
the time Jules and Robin finally tie the knot, there is not a dry eye in
the house, theirs or mine.
Suzanne Brockmann remains the
reining queen of romantic military suspense. Just in time for the
holidays, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, is that perfect little something
extra for all the true romantics out there. It is fun, funny and sweet
as well as fast paced and edgy. Don’t let the fact that the leading
characters are both men stop you from opening your heart to their
beautiful and suspenseful story. Suzanne Brockmann knows what her fans
want and once again, she delivers.
