Terri Pray’s SCARS is a story of
tortured souls, destiny, deceit, and did I mention werewolves, oh boy.
Simone has finally tired of being a
doormat. Facing her fears and her childhood memories, she returns to her
hometown to start again. Victor has been waiting all these years for
Simone to come home and now she that she has, he intends to make Simone
his.
Having lived her life with scars left
from a wolf attack as a child has left Simone short of self-esteem. So
when Victor shows an interest, she is cautious to say the least. Victor
knows he is going to have a hard time overcoming her fears, especially
when she finds out that he is a werewolf, just like the one that attacked
her all those years ago, and he is in a fight for pack Alpha.
For a werewolf love story, Terri
Pray’s SCARS was really a very emotional and exciting roller
coaster of a tale (pun intended). Simone was attacked by a wolf as a
child and the scars on her face have left lasting emotional scars. Victor
has grown up to be strong, handsome and popular, just as she remembers him
from her childhood. But Victor has a few secrets. What this reader
really liked best about Victor was that he has waited all these years for
Simone to return to him, not knowing if she ever would return. He wasn’t
just Prince Charming seeing the beauty beneath the skin of the poor
scarred girl. He was willing to live without his mate if she chose not to
return and she had no way of knowing that she was his mate or that he was
waiting for her. How sweet is that?
Simone finds a strength she didn’t
know she had and even after finding out that her honey turns furry and is
in a fight for control of the pack with the very wolf that left her
scarred all those years ago, she stands firm and shows the entire pack
that she is worthy of being the mate to the pack Alpha.
Of course this story wasn’t all
saccharin sweetness. Victor’s chief rival for pack Alpha and the lovely
Simone is the perfectly cunning and slightly bent nemesis that pulls this
story together and has it standing out in this reader’s estimation.
If you are looking for something a
little different in your werewolf love story and enjoy a good fight for
dominance, Terri Pray’s SCARS may be just the book for you.
