Kerry
is hired to be a personal bodyguard for the spoiled rotten daughter of a
rich Hollywood movie producer. JC Capwell has received threats and he
wants to keep his daughter safe, but she is not happy. Anna is used to
being able to come and go as she please. But as it is his job to protect
her, Kerry must find ways to restrict her comings and goings. As if
dealing with this slippery, headstrong young woman isn’t bad enough,
double the trouble when Anna’s sister shows up. When you put Angel and
Anna together, all hell just might break loose.
PROTECTING ANGEL will bring out an array of emotions in the reader;
disgust at how two young women can act like little snot-nosed brats,
amusement at their antics, frustration that Kerry just doesn’t take them
across his knee and give them a good paddling and pity when they get the
best of him. While sympathising with the sisters for the threat against
them, this reader had a hard time becoming close to these characters,
possibly because author Ruby Christine penned their spoiled rotten
personalities so well and accurately. This is a credit to Ms Christine
when this reviewer thinks about it. Anna and Angel just didn’t grab the
reader’s heart. Kerry is a caring leading man who this reader felt
compassion for…compassion for having to put up with the snide treatment
dealt to him from the girls.
PROTECTING ANGEL has a wonderful storyline that gripped this reader.
The idea of a threat against a powerful and rich movie producer and his
family is very believable. The characters of Anna and Angel are equally
believable in that they have had everything handed to them on a silver
platter. However the flow of the book does not run smooth a times and
distracted this reader. Ms Christine has a gift of creating characters and
tales that the reader can relate to. PROTECTING ANGEL is a good
afternoon read that would let the reader escape into the world of the rich
and famous for a time.
