Jean
Fairbairn is a reporter who is researching a story about the monster
Nessie of Loch Ness. American scientist Roger Dempsey has an array of high
tech gadgets that he will use to try to prove the legends are true. This
is right up Jean’s alley because legends are her genre of reporting. The
problem with this assignment is that there is opposition to Roger’s
project. Threatening letters and a boat explosion are just the beginning.
That is not the only trouble in Jean’s life right now. Will the legend of
Nessie be proven true? How many more deaths will occur in the Loc Ness’s
frigid waters that never gives up its dead?
THE
MURDER HOLE is a tale about the legend of The Loch Ness Monster. Many
people have had their own beliefs of what the monster is and if it even
exists. The theory behind this book fascinated this reviewer. However, the
book started out slowly and the amount of characters tossed at the reader
at such a fast pace was a cause of confusion. Same with the relationship
between Jean and Alasdair Cameron. There are many passages that led this
reader to realize that there is a history there, possibly in a previous
book, a book that this reviewer has not read and that probably would have
made some references more clear. The beginning chapters of THE MURDER
HOLE were a struggle for this reader. However, soon after the tone of
the book changes and the book levels out to where interesting events
abound. Our leading characters are well penned and the secondary cast add
flavour to the tale.
The
legend of Loch Ness has been around for a long time. Will it finally be
put to rest? Will the mystery of what lies beneath the deep finally be
solved? These are intriguing questions that you will just have to read the
book to find out, no give-aways here!
