Lucas Deverall
needs his wife, for more than one reason. His demented brother has left
him little more than the title of Viscount and mountain of dept. Now Lucas
must acquire the funds to bring his estate back to rights, and pay off the
creditors that are knocking at his door. Oh, and he will be needing an
heir to carry on the family name.
Sophie hasn’t seen
her husband for six years, not since their hasty and shotgun wedding. Now
her long lost husband, Captain, now Viscount Deverall has returned. And he
doesn’t even recognize her! She still loves him, but can she trust him
with her heart or is he only after her money and her body?
Oh my gosh, this is
an excellent book. This reviewer was enthralled from the very first page.
The reader’s heart bleeds for Sophie who has been left alone for years as
her husband, who hates her, is off to war, avoiding her while she is
harboring a love for him that hasn’t faded over time. But she holds no
illusions when he returns. She knows of his financial state and of his
resentment towards her. He blames her for their marriage, mistakenly so.
Sophie is a unique character of her time in that her inheritance is hers
and her husband can’t lay fingers on it, no matter how desperately he
needs it. She has a painful past and Lucas’s track record don’t allow her
to trust him, even though she would like nothing more than to believe that
his courting and wooing of her is genuine. Lucas is infatuated with Sophie
upon his return even before he learns who she is. He must find a way to
teach her to trust in him, who Sophie calls The Toad.
HIS
MAJESTY, PRINCE OF TOADS is at times humorous, at times heart
wrenching, but always very interesting and satisfying. This reader could
not put it aside once it was begun. The prose flows smoothly and there is
nary a dull moment. Highly recommended, HIS MAJESTY, PRINCE OF TOADS
is pure delight so don’t miss out. Enjoy!
