Trajaeran had
begged that the Book of Shadows be destroyed just before he died, but
Kierken had hid it to have it studied in order to find out its secrets.
Now the Stone has been found. The Stone and the Book of Shadows are
sister talismans. The power of the Stone unlocks the secrets of the Book
and legend says it is evil, but Kierken is convinced that it can be used
for good. In this story, Rhyden Fabhcun, a full-blooded Gaeilge Elf, is
visited one early morning by Qynh, Queen of Tiralainn and begs him to come
to her as someone is going to kill her husband, Kierken. Kaevir Macleod
is being called by the Stone with a promise of power over the wind.
Isabaenna needs to go to a conference in place of her father, who died
years before trying to stop the unleashing of the power that now threatens
the kingdom and intrigue, betrayal and surprises await all who get
involved in the race for power.
Fans of the first
book, Book of Days will not be disappointed in this next
installment of this stunning epic fantasy. The story continues in its
fast paced form with characters that leap from the pages and descriptive
prose that draws the reader right into a world of elves, dwarfs, humans
and magic. This story is just as emotional as the first and this reviewer
devoured every page, every line and every word. It was a great pleasure
to be able to continue and meet some of the characters from the first book
and get to know some new ones. This reviewer quite liked that Ms.
Reinke’s fantasy world has a slight Victorian flavor, with gentleman
highway men, coaches and carriages and a hierarchy of lords and ladies
that resemble the Ton. This reviewer would highly recommend the reader to
visit Ms. Reinke’s website and read the two free stories that are set
between the first and second book of the series which prepare the reader
more fully for this book.
