Move over Lora Leigh, Champagne Books’
hot new author Rebecca Goings has joined the fray into genetically
engineered shapeshifting uber-soldiers with the first book in her
B*E*A*S*T series, THE B*E*A*S*T WITHIN and she is taking no
prisoners. Noah Carpenter’s
mind has been wiped and his DNA spliced with that of a white tiger when he
is abducted by an agency known as B*E*A*S*T. He has been poked, prodded
and tortured in order to produce the perfect soldier. Finally, he has
escaped this evil organization and is on the run when he accidentally
causes Lanie Erickson to crash her car in order to avoid hitting his tiger
form.
Now that Noah has pulled Lanie from
the wreckage and nursed her back to health, B*E*A*S*T will be looking for
her as well. Together they try to stay one step away from recapture while
frantically searching to discover who Noah used to be. All the while,
their attraction grows until they are unable to keep it at bay any longer
and give into their passions. But when B*E*A*S*T captures Lanie as bait,
Noah knows he will have to return to the hated B*E*A*S*T one again to save
his mate and hopefully destroy the compound in the process.
Rebecca Goings’ THE B*E*A*S*T
WITHIN is a fast paced and emotion packed paranormal intrigue and
adventure that raises the hair on the back of your neck with its
incredible premise.
The characters that Ms. Goings has
created are all strong, complex and compelling characters. Even Lanie,
whose entire life is changed when she swerves to avoid hitting an animal
on an icy roadway, is an intense and resilient character that makes a
perfect match for Noah’s powerful personality. Her reactions to the
events and revelations thrust upon her are believable and plausible. And
her response to Noah’s animal magnetism had every hormone in this reader’s
body standing at attention.
It is not that big a stretch of the
imagination to believe military minds could find a way to genetically
produce a soldier with the fighting strengths and instincts of an animal.
And after spending millions of dollars experimenting to create this uber-soldier,
it is even easier to imagine the extremes they might go to in order to
protect this technology. True, aspects of the story are a bit
fantastical, but overall this story really is a powerful and emotional
thrill ride not to be missed.
Fans of the paranormal with a love
for a little military intrigue and experimentation are going to go wild
for Rebecca Goings’ THE B*E*A*S*T WITHIN. This reader eagerly
awaits the next book in this haunting and evocative B*E*A*S*T series.
Kudos to Champagne Books for discovering this talented new author.
