Casey Bannister is a retired
NYPD detective, recently widowed and doesn’t want to admit he is bored.
Trying to fit into a new suburban life, he really doesn’t want to get
involved with the murder investigation of a politician’s niece. That is
until old partner and ex-lover Shannon Danzinger is assigned the case by
the Attorney General’s office. Only now it is Shannon that is married. Can
they solve this case before it damages the political career of Shannon’s
husband and his boss? And will they be able to fight the feelings being
resurrected between them?
This reader loves a good
mystery and TRY AND CATCH THE WIND is that, even though this
reviewer had the murderer pegged before the half waypoint. That not
withstanding, TRY AND CATCH THE WIND is a wonderful story and
thinking you know who the murderer is doesn’t take anything away from the
tale. Author Michael Murphy did a superb job penning characters with flaws
that are well written, believable and highly likeable. Casey, even though
he cheated briefly with Shannon, loved his wife very much and mourns her
loss. He is a character that creates sympathy in the reader even if
unwillingly. Shannon was harder for this reader to connect with. She is a
bit cold and even came across as a bit snobby at first but before to long
this reader was feeling more kindly to her.
This reader thought the
storyline in TRY AND CATCH THE WIND is fairly unique and attention
catching. The reader doesn’t get to attached to the victim and Mr. Murphy
focuses on the main characters Shannon and Casey. This reviewer thought
this a very well laid out plot. The story moves at a nice clip, keeping
the action exciting and doesn’t leave the reader wishing the tale would
end soon. Don’t miss out on this one. Mr. Murphy has given us a wonderful
read that shouldn’t be missed by anyone who fancies this genre.
