Before Fran
Santini’s fiancée left her for her best friend, he swindled her out of her
inheritance. Fran takes a job as a honey trapper to try to replace the
money before her family learns what happened. At a local pub, Fran is
certain she has found the man she was hired to catch cheating. However,
after making a scene and embarrassing herself, she learns that she was, as
usual, wrong.
Travis O’Connell
was looking for a job and during his interview he realizes that the
daughter of his would-be boss is none other than the deranged woman who
attacked him at the pub the night before. Nonetheless, Travis is drawn to
the dark-haired beauty and feels the need to come to her rescue.
Overall, this was a
cute book with likeable characters. It is easy to relate to Fran trying
to hide her foolishness with her former fiancée. It would have been
better if there had been more detail of how she came into this line of
work and the consequences of failing to do the job well. There was not
much chemistry between Fran and Travis, as they really never spent much
time in the same place at the same time and there wasn’t a lot of telling
dialogue between the two, the chemistry is mostly conveyed through their
inner thoughts. The story seemed to skip between scenes to frequently and
the pacing seemed to drag a bit.
