Gabrielle Maxwell is a unique human female. She is a "Breedmate". Her DNA is compatible with the vampire DNA thus the ability to procreate children. Lucan Thorne is the leader of the Breed Warriors. Lucan and Gabrielle is a great lead couple. Lucan is literally the Alpha male. He is the oldest and the leader of his warriors. This is a man who takes his responsibilities seriously and Gabrielle has fallen into that category. Gabrielle is a strong woman. She can hold her own against Lucan and the Rogue Vampires. The chemistry between the two is just addictive especially Lucan's fight against the inevitable as the reader knows he will succumb to his desire and love for Gabrielle. The tenderness, love and passion displayed by them will definitely hook the reader in. There is something wonderfully tantalizing about them as their relationship progresses. Lucan and Gabrielle do not exist in a vacuum as they must interact with the other warriors and their Breedmates plus Gabrielle’s human friends. Ms. Adrian gives us glimpses of some of the other Breed Warriors especially Tegan and Rio. The reader is left with gnawing questions on how and when they will find what they deserve!

KISS OF MIDNIGHT is the first book in this new series by Lara Adrian. It is another take on the vampire genre that is currently so very popular. This book features the leader of the Breed Warriors, Lucan and his Breedmate, Gabrielle. Ms. Adrian does a great job of setting and building her world. Her vampires can have children, they can go in sunlight albeit for a short period of time, and their Breedmates do not become vampires but stay human and young as long as blood is transferred between them. The parameters of this world are set in this first book but it may be expanded in the future books. It is a fast paced, highly erotic and action-filled story that will only whet the reader's appetite for future books in this terrific new series!!!
