Lorana Kane is in
love with her brother’s best friend, Brett Morallis. She is also pretty
sure that Brett is attracted to her, but she cannot understand why he’s
never acted on it. Then she finds out that her brother, Jorval, warned
Brett years ago to stay away from her. Being the loyal friend that he is,
Brett never wanted to go against Jorval’s wishes. After learning that
Brett is headed to Fantasy Resort on Portakin Three for a week of
uninhibited sexual adventures, Lorana decides that if she could surprise
him by showing up there she could prove to him that she’s worth breaking
his word to Jorval and get him to admit his feelings for her.
At Fantasy Brett
does not give Lorana a warm reception when he sees her parading around
waiting for someone to bid on her, but he cannot bear the thought of
someone else getting her in the auction so he decides to buy her and send
her home. At least that’s what his plans are…Lorana, however, has very
different ideas.
The encounters
between Lorana and Brett, while being very steamy, are tender at times as
well, which is rather refreshing to find in erotica, it has the right mix
of sizzling sex and romantic closeness. The way Brett always refers to
Lorana as Brat is a reminder of how long these two have been circling each
other, which makes the reader appreciate more the moment of surrender. The
characters were very real and the premise of whether to break a trust for
true love is familiar. Anyone with older or younger siblings can relate to
the protective nature of Jorval and the desire to be seen as an adult like
Lorana. Overall, this was a good read, although this reviewer would have
enjoyed reading a little more about Jorval and his love interest as it is
mentioned several times throughout the story. This book would have
received a higher rating if there were not so many errors that should have
been caught in editing.
