Ms. Reid has penned a tale that is a fascinating mix of the historical tales set in the Middle East, telepathic flying lizards and far away planets in the future. The web of deceit that surrounds Rima and Khalid for most of the story provides an engrossing plot element that keeps the reader fully enthralled for the entire story. Both characters are strong willed but kind hearted people who know that the price of leading their people may cost their personal lives, but who long for love. The many secondary characters, especially Khalid’s brave young sister Adiva, add depth and richness to the story. This story was this reviewer’s first exposure to Ms. Reid, but it most definitely will not be the last. This story is not only recommended to fans of futuristic romance, but also to fans of historical harem romance because it shares so many elements of that genre. Great job, Ms. Reid.
