Contemporary Romance

Kelly Parker is an accountant who is trying to forget the disappointment of her latest romance when she is called home to Ohio due to the death of her uncle.  Her grandfather needs her help to run the family amusement park which her uncle had been managing.  Nik Roberts has also returned home after selling his electronics company because he longed to fulfill his dream of owning a fishing lodge.  He thinks he’s found the perfect spot, Kelly’s family amusement park, but Kelly assures his agent that the park is absolutely not for sale.  The park is, however, in financial trouble and in much need of repair. So Nik volunteers for the job.  While Kelly is highly attracted to Nik, she sincerely doubts his motivations.  Nik on the other hand, is desperate to win not only his life-long dream, but also the girl of his dreams.  Will these two star-crossed lovers find a way to enjoy ONE LAST RIDE?

Ms. Leady has penned a gem of a tale reminiscent of a Shakespearean comedy set in modern times.  Kelly and Nik seem fated to forever misinterpret the other’s actions, but the sexual chemistry between them is undeniably hot.  Their courtship is truly a comedy of errors, and Kelly’s grandfather is simply pure comedy!  The love in both families definitely shines through, both in Kelly’s devotion toward her grandfather and in Nik’s relationships with a seemingly never ending series of family members.  Ms. Leady has shown a deft hand in her character development and that is a strength of this story.  She also did a wonderful job in the physical description of her setting that drew the reader in and made it seem as if one could really “see” each scene unfolding.  The tension between Kelly and Nik is palpable and when they finally surrender to their attraction, steam fairly rises off the pages!  This reviewer truly enjoyed this tale and fans of contemporary romance that like a little levity in their stories will too!
