Dave Lieberman is a talented chef who has become known as a celebrity chef from The Food Network.  The second cookbook he has authored features dinners – from finger foods, to gourmet meals.  This book is written as a way to create reasonably priced meals from fresh healthy ingredients.

DAVE’S DINNERS comes packed with recipes that will appeal to the masses.  From page one to the end; the book is separated into categories which include not only desserts, pasta, meats and soups, but also finger foods.  I live in a household that believes that the meat and potato meals are the only meals, but I enjoyed trying recipes and sharing them with friends.

My favorite recipe from this cookbook came from the poultry section, and even my husband deemed it acceptable.  From a man who hates seasonings and sauces, this was indeed high praise.  I can recommend Dave’s recipe for Jerk Chicken with Banana Fried Rice as one of the best chicken dishes I have tried to create at home – it didn’t quite stand up to Jamaican Jerk chicken found in the Caribbean but it is worth the time to make this great meal.

My husband’s favorite recipe from this book came from all sections, the Drinks.  Ginger Syrup is meant to be made as a mixer (I.e., Gin and Ginger Drinks) however we found that it works great as an add-in with a bit of soda water or Sprite.  We also found that it made a great addition to plain chicken as a glaze.

All in all, I think this is a cookbook worth buying.  I highly recommend this to someone who enjoyed spending time creating homemade dinners and more.  This is not for the rushed cook; it is for the person who will take the time to learn more about the recipes and finding the right ingredients.
