Justin Maddox is the new Duke of Colster. A blacksmith by trade, raised
in the Scottish highlands, his life took a new turn when it was discovered
that he was the twin brother of Phillip, Duke of Colster. Justin was the
elder of the two thus the title belonged to him. Not only does he have
to adjust to his new situation, he has in his possession the Sword of the
MacKenna, which the British and the Scottish want. Francesca Dunroy wants
to retrieve her necklace. She lost it while fighting off the advances of
one disreputable rake. Unfortunately, she finds herself with Justin and
they share a passionate kiss. Circumstances force them to wed.
Justin’s life has been turned upside down by his new rank. He wasn’t
raised to be a duke and finds it a challenging role. He has torn
loyalties between the Scottish and the English. Justin is a wonderfully
drawn character. Readers will totally fall in love with him. Francesca’s
character matures as the story progresses. She evolves from a girl to a
young woman. Her life has not been easy especially with the quick
remarriage of her father after her mother’s death. Justin and Francesca’s
relationship begins on a physical level first and then they start to get
to know each other. They slowly come to respect and love each other. Of
course, this wouldn’t be a romance without some bumps in the road but
Ms. Maxwell deftly deals with them.
BEDDING THE
HEIRESS is the
sequel to IN THE BED OF THE DUKE which features Phillip’s story. This is
a wonderful romance as we watch Justin and Francesca’s relationship evolve
into something special. It is nicely paced story with two likable leads
that will win the hearts of romance lovers!
