Clair Ivars is a
psychic, one of the real ones who unfortunately can not tell anything
about her own future. That is why she, against her better judgment, gives
a bride with cold feet a false reading saying that if she marries her
fiancé horrible things will occur. Now Clair has to return the engagement
ring to the jilted groom before she starts her own vacation. On her way
to the groom’s estate, she is in a car accident and things just go
downhill from there.
Looking for a
lighthearted, astoundingly amusing escape from reality? Then reach no
farther then Mary Carter’s ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED. Reminiscent of a
British farce, be prepared to laugh yourself silly as you follow Clair
from one disaster to another at Heron Estates. There is hardly time for
Clair to catch her breath as she goes from a car accident, to the best
kiss of her life, to accidentally becoming engaged, to meeting her
supposed mother-in-law who detests her on sight, to the grandmother who is
confused about Clair’s identity.
Clair is a
wonderful leading lady though there is confusion on just who the leading
man should be. Is it the jilted fiancé Jack Heron or the hot kisser
Mike? And there is a wonderfully eccentric cast of secondary characters
that readers will have to meet to believe. And last but not least are the
horoscopes that begin each chapter. Well all that can be said is that a
lot more of us would pay attention to the ones in the newspaper if Ms.
Carter wrote them.
This reviewer
highly recommends ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED to any readers who enjoy
romantic comedy. Be sure to pick up your copy of ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED
as this book is not accidentally hilarious!
