The Magitech Lounge is located on Haight Street, San Francisco.  It’s a place for preternaturals and normals.  Jack is an ordinary fellow, a former time-traveler.  He found out that it was illegal to time travel and was asked to start this club.  It’s become a haven for the immortal and the strange.  A place where a bad-ass immortal seeks redemption and the reflection in the mirror may be more than what it seems.  It’s a place where the really strange can feel at home, where a hunted goblin can find refuge.  Where a troll is treated as one of the family and a dragon finds out that on this Earth, justice is taken care of by not eating the guilty.  Jack keeps it all together and has earned loyalty from the patrons who have come to almost call it home.  It’s a place where people find out that urban legends are real, and that no one messes with any of its patrons.  At the Magitech Lounge, being a freak is accepted, so stop on by and meet some of its patrons.

Saje Williams has the uncanny knack of blending the paranormal, science fiction and mythology to build a unique world where all these elements are totally at home.  His characters are very much alive and leap from the pages.  Mr. Williams has let each character tell his own story in each chapter.  At first, this reviewer thought that the story would be just retold from each character’s point of view, but no, the plot moves along and each character has their chance to tell the next part of the story.  This reviewer sometimes had a little difficulty at the beginning of each chapter wondering who was telling the story next, but actually, it all really does work and is refreshingly different.  This reviewer’s favorite character was Hades, the bad boy seeking redemption.  Spattered with doses of humor and a little violence, Mr. Williams shows once again his talent for giving his readers something that is not only entertaining but also gives food for thought.  This is the first in what looks like an intriguing, interesting and engaging series.   A fantastic read!
