Fantasy Romance

Chloe Degodessa, the Muse of Happiness, has been banished to Earth by her father Zeus, as a punishment for not doing her job well.  She simply has not made enough people happy!  While on Earth, she is expected to meet a happiness quota and she thinks she has found the perfect place to do so - Castleberry Hall in Chicago, the site of many weddings, showers, anniversary and birthday parties, all occasions where people are meant to be happy.  Everything is proceeding according to plan, including some very nice dalliances with those studly humans, when the grandson of Castleberry Hall owner Belle, Matthew Castleberry, returns unexpectedly from his tour of duty of Doctors Without Borders.  Matt is immediately suspicious of Chloe and her intentions but she quickly wins him over with her charm and grace.  Too bad the time is swiftly approaching for Chloe to return to Olympus for Zeus to decide if in fact she has successfully completed the task set before her.  Will ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS be enough to last Matt and Chloe forever?

ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS is the second tale in the Goddess series by Ms. McCoy, but it is a stand alone book.  Chloe, the Muse of Happiness, is a well written character who is totally believable as she sets out to fulfill her mission.  The sexual tension between her and Matt is palpable and their encounters fairly steam up the room in their intensity.  Ms. McCoy’s trademark humor is present in this tale as well, and there are several laugh out loud moments, including a most amusing encounter between Chloe and Eros.  Characters from Greek mythology are interwoven in this tale and while true to their historical natures, have been “modernized” to show that even the gods must keep up with the time.  Matthew is an inspired hero, even with his physical flaws that are used as a shield for him to hide his true emotions.  His love for his grandmother and his desire for her well being are touchingly demonstrated throughout the story.  Ms. McCoy has done a wonderful job intertwining the fantastical with the real so that the tale reads true to life.  Readers who enjoy humorous contemporary romance with flights of fantasy will enjoy this fantastic tale just as much as this reviewer did.
