When elementary school teacher Mariah’s car breaks down on the side of the road, she stands out in the heat waiting for someone to pass by and rescue her.  When he rumbles up on his motorcycle, Gabriel looks more like Lucifer in the flesh than he does a Chicago cop.  Neither Mariah nor Gabriel can believe the attraction they feel for one another on the ride to Mariah’s house.  They soon decide that the attraction is more than a passing fancy and the flames of passion are raging.  Mariah is trying to break her dry spell with men, and Gabriel is trying to run from a painful past as they cling to each other with all they can.

The characters in LUCIFER’S ANGEL are quite likable. However, this first book by Kaenar Langford leaves much room for improvement.  The story tends to be redundant as the reader first hears the inner thoughts of Mariah and Gabriel, then they voice those same things almost verbatim to each other.  Other times they daydream or fantasize in great detail only to tell each other about it later in almost as much detail.  The sex scenes tend to be a little tedious and over analyzed at times.  There was no real pinnacle to this story, it starts to play out that the job Gabriel does for Burke might be a climactic point but it is not.  This reviewer would have liked to see more of the working relationship that Gabriel started to develop with Mariah’s brother, Burke.
