Loti Black is a
woman who incites death with just a touch. When she is attacked, she
touches her attacker and later he is found after he committed suicide.
This is when Troy Gordon, a detective, gets stuck investigating a case of
forced suicides as it doesn’t stop at one. While investigating Loti, he
finds proof that Loti indeed can kill with a touch, but when he looks into
her eyes, he just can’t believe it. How can he fall in love with a woman
he is afraid to touch? To make matters worse, there is a mystery
surrounding her that could get her killed. A powerful man wants her
dead. Her mother wants her dead. How can he accept this amazing woman
and protect her at the same time?
This is a
spine-chilling tale that readers will be hard pressed to put down until
the last word is savored. Jennifer Cloud gives her readers a story that
they will be thinking about long after its read. It’s the kind of story
that wraps itself around you and penetrates your very being. Her
characters leap from the pages, the plot twists and turns and keeps the
reader guessing and Ms. Cloud has added just a tiny dash of humor to
lighten up, what would otherwise be, a very dark and dismal story. The
romance between Loti and Troy is sweet and lends the story its lighter
tone. All in all a very well rounded story, which this reviewer
thoroughly enjoyed and looks forward to more from this talented author.
