Gavin St. John is
at Bloodstone Manor to find out what malevolent force is scaring its
residents. Duchess Carlotta Stone lives in the castle and feels as though
the spirits are somehow following her. From their first meeting Gavin and
Carlotta are attracted to each other and even Carlotta’s aging Aunt
Lillian can see the way they look at one another. As night falls on the
manor strange things begin to occur between Carlotta and Gavin, things
that they cannot explain or control. As Gavin works to unravel the
mystery of the unknown, otherworldly visitors and Carlotta tries to come
to grips with her newfound sexual desires, a vicious and bloodthirsty
spirit tries to find a human host so that he can exact his revenge on
them.
Ms. Wildes does not
disappoint with THE BLOODSTONE AFFAIR, the second book in the
Brothers of Absinthe Club. While each book can be read alone and out of
order, this reviewer is enjoying the tales unraveling as each man in the
club shares his most sordid sexual encounter. It is particularly
enjoyable to experience the epiphany Carlotta has when she realizes that
sex can be enjoyable for the woman as well as the man. Gavin is wonderful
as her counterpart; he is gentle, considerate and respectful of her as a
woman.
This story has a
great underlying mysterious element to it and makes it that much harder to
put down, as the reader is anxious to learn the past of the manor and its
former inhabitants. When that is combined with the unbridled passion
depicted, THE BLOODSTONE AFFAIR is a must read!
