Sunny Weston has
finally made it. She’s lost all those extra pounds, is toned from tons of
exercise. She has her own online business selling sex toys and her long
time crush is finally her boyfriend, but wondering however if life truly
is perfect. Happiness doesn’t seem to be calorie-free after all. Sunny’s
friends are jealous and she becomes a stranger in her own skin. Life
seems to be only counting calories and burning fat. And life gets even
more confusing when the witty, dapper Cagney comes on the scene. They
meet when rescuing a child from a child snatcher, and then again when the
parents ask them to dinner to thank them. Cagney’s gay friend believes
that they are made for each other, but they spar whenever they are
together and sparks fly. The thing is, they enjoy it.
It seems that there
are an abundance of books out right now about weight and weight-loss. In
this story, British author Louise Kean shows the reader that maybe being
slim isn’t what it is all about. Written with quite a bit of dry humor,
Ms Kean introduces her reader to a neurotic heroine and a jaded, but witty
hero. This story has a lot of introspection and the author takes the
reader right into the heroine’s head. She’s a heroine that we can all
relate to, full of fears and phobias. The sittings with her psychiatrist
are enlightening and humorous. The banter between Sunny and Cagney are
laugh out loud moments. This reviewer enjoyed this story, but would have
loved to have seen a bit more action. This is a story about accepting who
you are and not accepting second best in your life.
