Andy Kendricks is a
debutante drop out. She married a plumber who she divorced eighteen
months later and reunited with her father who had almost disowned her.
Now she’s a teacher with a great boyfriend. Brian Malone is a defense
attorney who is such a straight arrow that he had to be almost forced to
go to a close friend’s bachelor party at a sleazy local “gentleman’s
club”. Brian disappears from the club and no one has heard from him.
Then his car shows up with a naked woman dead in it. Now the police are
looking for an unfaithful/possibly homicidal boyfriend. Andy can’t
believe her upstanding lover is a murderer and she’s going all out to
prove it. With the help of her mother and her boyfriend and Brian’s
ex-girlfriend, they go on a chase involving kidnappers and money
launderers. Andy might get more than her heart broken.
If you like your
mystery with a lot of humor, then this story by Susan McBride is for you.
Ms. McBride keeps the suspense high and the dialogue witty. Secondary
characters like Andy’s socialite mother and her blue-blooded friends give
the story a lot of spark and fizzle. These ladies are the experts on
Manolos, the perfect manicure and big hair. This reviewer could hardly
put this book down. It kept her glued to the pages and frantically
turning each one to find out what would happen next. When the reader has
finished this story she will be hungering for more, and there is more.
Susan McBride has written more stories of the dropout debutante, the
titles are THE LONE STAR LONELY HEARTS CLUB, THE GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO
MURDER and BLUE BLOOD. This reviewer will be putting these
titles on her wish list right away.
