Philanthropist,
Jordan King is a very eligible bachelor who loves a challenge. He’s worked
hard with his two partners to build a business that can help them help
others less fortunate. So when Kate Brogan writes a scathing newspaper
article that almost destroys his reputation, he’s determined to put her
straight.
To Kate, Jordan is
everything she dislikes in a man, he’s just like her father.
Kate’s boyfriend
Peter is so conservative he makes love in the dark, and is safe and
predictable, his kisses comfortable and familiar. Telling herself a girl
doesn’t need more, not even when Jordan sets her skin on fire and makes
her nerves tingle whenever he’s near.
Jordan confronts
Kate about the article, and she agrees to accompany him on a canoe trip,
to find out what his outdoor adventures for under privileged kids are all
about.
She tries to deny
the attraction and the electrical current whenever they are close by
telling herself it’s only for five days, but she hadn’t bargained on her
treacherous body’s response.
Jordan is so
different when dealing with the two teenage boys and a father, Kate begins
to realize how wrong she’d been about him.
MR. IRRESISTIBLE
has an interesting plot, which includes an attention-grabbing and hair
raising adventure. The main characters are dynamic, with a charisma that
appealed to this reviewer. Flawed but fascinating, the hero and heroine
strike sparks off each other in many ways. The tension is high with plenty
of action that was easy to follow, with a clear path. The conflict was
high and amusing in parts as they fight the very real attraction. The
story has good rhythm and style with good dialogue that was always
convincing. Motivations for the characters’ responses were believable, in
this refreshing tale. The idea was very original and the camping out
scenes made the theme a little different. The scenes allowed the reader to
almost feel the cold water and see the stars at night.
The book flows well
with no inconsistencies, making it an enjoyable experience to read. The
opening was different to recent books and made this reader want to turn
the pages. The secondary characters fitted into the plot seamlessly,
adding to the tension and conflict. With a controlling boyfriend, a couple
of teens and a father with his own agenda, the background tensions blend
in seamlessly to a good ending.
