When Gabrielle
Maxwell, witnesses a murder while coming out of a nightclub, she manages
to take some pictures. Strangely by the time the police arrive there are
no other clues or evidence to substantiate her claim. Plus the police
cannot see the pictures so dismiss her as a prankster. When Detective
Lucas Thorn turns up on her doorstep later that evening, she’s relieved
when he shows an interest and takes them away for processing.
Lucas finds himself
instantly attracted to her, and almost makes the mistake of taking blood.
Luckily, he sees the mark on her neck in time, and realizes she is a
mortal that his kind can breed with.
Taking her blood
would mean they were mated for life, and Lucas is not ready for that. He’s
been a warrior for almost five hundred years, dedicated to keeping mortals
safe by fighting the Rogues. When they learns the Rogues are becoming
organized, Lucas knows it’s too dangerous to leave Gabrielle outside. He
takes her to their underground quarters where she begins to learn more
about them and their crusade.
Ms. Adrian's debut
book is a very dark, paranormal with plenty of adventure and action
scenes.
Enticing,
refreshing, erotic and exotic, is one way to describe the KISS OF
MIDNIGHT’s formidable leader of the Breed, Lucan. The warrior vampires
live by a set of chivalrous rules as they fight those of their kind with
bloodlust. The conflicts and suspense are well written, as danger and
death stalks the streets. The sexual attraction and chemistry between the
hero and heroine, is dark, moody and very creative. The secondary
characters are an integral part of the plot, and woven through the story
with skill. Dialogue is snappy, but also suited to the characters’
personalities. The ending is filled with a mix of hope, terror and edge of
the seat action as the warriors, plus Gabrielle and her friends all become
involved with the Rogues and the fight to keep mortals safe. This reviewer
enjoyed the adventure and recommends it as a great read, for anyone who
enjoys dark paranormal and vampires.
