Robyn Kelly deals with unhappy patients all of the time in her job as a patient relations manager at Madrona Bay Hospital. But her abilities are put to the test when a huge multi-car pile up on the freeway brings a large number of injured people to Madrona Bay, one of who is Congressman Jake Hamilton. Robyn’s first encounter with the Congressman causes him to threaten to file a complaint about her. Her second encounter with him is to discover his murdered dead body in his hospital room when she goes to try to smooth things over with him before such a complaint can be filed.

This book hits the ground rolling and never slows down. The reader can’t help but feel for Robyn when the injured start to roll into the Madrona Bay Hospital’s emergency room. The upper level managers are away and that leaves Robyn in charge. And Congressman Hamilton might be charismatic and charming on television, but in person he is a demanding tyrant without a care to those around him. He is truly a character the reader will love to hate. When Robyn, who is not a medical professional is unable to give into his demands for pain medication immediately he is thrown into a tizzy. Is it no wonder that someone killed him? But why did it have to be right before Robyn enters his hospital room in order to calm ruffled feathers? Robyn is a stubborn and determined character out to uncover the true murder in order to save a co-worker who is wrongly accused. Tossed into the intrigue of a good mystery is a touch of romance. A man from Robyn’s past shows up in the thick of things, causing mischief and mayhem. And a dashing police detective who is rather irritating at times liven things up even more.

Luckily Robyn is cleared immediately of the Congressman’s murder, but will she find the true murderer before a co-worked ends up in jail for a crime he didn’t commit? This is a question you will just have to read MASQUERADE for yourself to find out! This book will not disappoint. The prose is smooth flowing and never a dull moment is to be found.
