After Thea’s father
passed away, she needed a way to make some money so that she could afford
the upkeep of her home, Stony Gables. Using it as a bed & breakfast
worked fairly well but when she was offered a sizable amount of money to
allow Max to stay there with his young niece, with Thea acting as a nanny
the offer was too good to resist. What Thea did not realize was that the
situation would call for her to also act as Max’s fiancée, not that Thea
is not attracted to Max, quite the contrary. However Max claims not to
believe in happy ever after endings. Will Max be able to see reason and
let himself love Thea, or will he break her heart the way he feared he
would?
MARRYING MAX
is a wonderfully sweet romance with a touch of humor. Even if she is a
bit clumsy, Thea is a woman who is made to be a wife and a mother and Max,
even though he does not realize it, would be a great father. The scenes
with Max, Thea and Max’s niece, Emily are heartwarming.
The romantic sparks
between Max and Thea are undeniable not only to the reader but to Max and
Thea as well. This makes it all the more emotional to watch Max withdraw
at every turn as he fears failure in another relationship.
Stony Gables makes
a wonderful backdrop for the book. It is quirky and quite domestic, like
Thea.
With such a
peaceful setting and such likable characters Ms. Dixon has penned a must
read for the summer!
