Francesca Dunroy
was brought up to be a proper lady; unfortunately her actions are often
far from lady like. When her father remarries his current mistress and
soon after finds out Regina is pregnant, Francesca throws all caution
aside. When she becomes infatuated with the rake, Lord Penthorpe, disaster
awaits her. While escaping from his embrace she loses her pearl necklace,
and her father requests its return.
The new Duke of
Colster, Justin Maddox steps onto a terrace to avoid the curious stares of
the ton. Suddenly he finds himself embraced and kissed by a woman. Raised
as a Highlander after being kidnapped as a baby, his courtly manners are
none existent. The kiss has stirred Justin like no other woman before, but
he thinks her a practiced lover.
When he finds
Francesca searching Penthorpe’s rooms, passion takes them over the
boundaries of society. She’s unsure of him and her feelings, and he has
vowed never to lay his heart out for another woman. Max Dunroy expects
them to marry, but Francesca isn’t so easy to convince.
BEDDING THE
HEIRESS is a delightful romp, with a bold heroine and a very
interesting hero. Secrets and villains make for some edge of the seat
moments as the plot unfolds. Conspiracies abound, as the past begins to
catch up with the hero and the sword he defends becomes a pawn in power
games as other peoples’ agendas are not as noble as they seem. Mixed with
the machinations of the ton it makes a fast paced tale with lots of
excitement. The hero and heroine are well matched, and spark off each
other in many ways. Both want the same thing in life, but are afraid to
commit themselves to each other. When the sexual intimacy between them
catches fire, they begin to realize they are more alike than they thought.
Over coming fear and other peoples’ intervention is not easy as others
plot against them. The story is well written and believable, with some
delightfully sensual love making scenes. Strong characters bring this
story alive in many ways, with love at its centre.
