Touched By Darkness

Years ago fled Dr. Kara Cantrell with her little son Alex to the small town Zorro in Texas. She hoped that the Evil that killed her husband and also endangers her son’s life, wouldn’t find her and her son there. But she realized her mistake when she suddenly feels the presence of a great power. She fears for her son, because she thinks that he is too young to be confronted with his heritage. He has no idea what powers are sleeping in him. The situation gets even more complicated when Kara meets Damien Morgan because he represents everything she fears and he brings back memories she would have liked to forget. Unfortunately, they have no other chance but to work together to fight the evil that threatens the peace in the small town as well as the life of the inhabitants.

Well known for her fantastic Shielder series, Ms. Spangler is on her way to conquer a new genre and this reviewer has to say she really succeeded. TOUCHED BY DARKNESS is a wonderful combination of paranormal, mythological and romantic suspense elements. The story is dark, sensual and absolutely spellbinding and because it’s so unpredictable what will happen and what twist the story will take the reader will kept on the edge of their seat.

This reviewer really loved the whole concept of Atlantis and the fight between Sentinels and Belians, as well as the special relationship between the Sentinels and their Conductors such as Kara.

Another interesting aspect of the story is how Kara as well as Damien find a way to overcome their personal fears from the past. It’s not an easy way for them but in the end it’s worth to fight for your own happiness.

TOUCHED BY DARKNESS is a wonderful series debut and this reviewer is really looking forward to read Touched by Fire, which will be released in October 2007.
