When Shaun Spencer
agrees to help a beautiful woman save the planet, he was not quite sure
just what he actually agreed too. Surely he, a law abiding citizen, did
not agree to breaking and entering, and people trying to kill him. Yet
Shaun can not quite seem to quit, especially as that would disappoint
Selena Krael, the beautiful woman.
In HURTLING TO
OBLIVION, author Dave Field takes us to Australia where the reader
gets to enjoy exotic locales and meet some interesting people. There are
several villains in this tale, anyone who puts money above the
environment. The hero and heroine, Shaun and Selena, are people that the
reader will find easy to like and empathize with and people that this
reader would be proud to call friend. This reviewer also wanted to give
kudos to Mr. Field for his realistic portrayal of Wicca.
HURTLING TO
OBLIVION by Dave Field is a worthwhile tale of environmental espionage
and people trying to stop the destruction of our planet. Reading this
book is quite the wakeup call! That being said, it does not quite reach
the tension needed to be a thriller because of all the instances that the
author steps back from the story to educate the reader. Mr. Field does do
an excellent job of the education; however, when a reader picks up a book
labeled as a thriller, expanding ones knowledge is not quite what the
reader is looking for.
While not able to
recommend HURTLING TO OBLIVION as a thriller, this reviewer feels
that it is a very worthwhile read for any reader interested in the
environment.
